Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about CombatStrips. Still have questions? Contact us.

What do CombatStrips actually do?
Your nasal valve is the narrowest point of your airway, and CombatStrips mechanically hold it open while you train. Published research on external nasal dilators measures about a 31% increase in the valve’s cross-sectional area and a real drop in nasal breathing resistance. On the mat, that means nasal breathing stays available deeper into hard rounds.
Will the strips stay on during intense training?
That’s the whole reason this product exists. Ordinary nasal strips are made for sleeping, a still face with no sweat, which is why they come off in a hard roll. CombatStrips use a medical-grade adhesive spec’d for sweat and mat contact. Apply it to clean, dry skin (that part matters) and it’s built to last the session. If one ever doesn’t, tell us. We want to know.
Can I reuse a strip?
No. CombatStrips are designed for single use. The adhesive loses its strength after removal and the spring bands lose tension. One strip, one session.
How long before training should I apply the strip?
Apply your CombatStrip 5 minutes before training or competition. This allows the adhesive to reach maximum bond strength with your skin.
Will CombatStrips work if I have a deviated septum?
A strip opens the nasal valve from the outside; it won’t correct a structural deviation. Many people with deviated septums find external dilators help, some don’t. It depends on where your restriction is. If you have significant structural issues, talk to your doctor.
Are these legal in competition?
Rules vary by organization and event, so check with yours before you compete.
What’s the difference between CombatStrips and regular nose strips?
The mechanism is the same: spring bands that lift the nasal valve open. The difference is what they’re built to survive. Regular strips are designed for sleep: no sweat, no movement, no contact. CombatStrips pair that mechanism with a medical-grade adhesive spec’d for training, so the strip is still on your nose at the end of the session instead of on the mat.
How do I remove the strip without irritating my skin?
Remove slowly, working from one end to the other. Warm water helps loosen the adhesive. Don’t rip it off quickly. If you have sensitive skin, apply a warm, damp cloth for 30 seconds before removal.
Can I use CombatStrips during No-Gi grappling?
Yes. No-gi is the worst case for any adhesive: maximum sweat, maximum skin contact. It’s the environment the adhesive was chosen for. Clean, dry application matters most here.
I have sensitive skin. Will CombatStrips irritate it?
The materials are hypoallergenic and skin-safe, but everyone’s skin is different. Test one strip during a light session before wearing one in competition. If you experience irritation, discontinue use.
Do I need to shave my nose area before applying?
No need to shave. The adhesive works fine with normal facial hair. However, if you have very thick hair in the application area, you may get better adhesion with trimming.
How many strips come in a pack?
30 strips per pack. One per session, so a pack is roughly a month of serious training at about 67 cents a session.
What’s your return policy?
30-day satisfaction guarantee. If CombatStrips aren’t for you, contact us within 30 days of delivery and return the unused strips for a full refund.
Can I use CombatStrips for other sports?
Sure. The strip doesn’t know you’re grappling. It holds your nasal valve open in any hard cardio session. We built the adhesive for mat sports because that’s the harshest environment for it; running and lifting are easy by comparison.
Do CombatStrips help with snoring or sleep apnea?
CombatStrips are designed for training, not sleep. The adhesive is stronger than you want on your face for eight hours. Nasal dilators in general can help with snoring, but for sleep-related breathing issues, talk to your doctor.
What if the strip doesn’t fit my nose perfectly?
CombatStrips are one size, designed to fit most adult noses, and the flexible bands adapt to individual anatomy. If it genuinely doesn’t fit yours, contact support and we’ll make it right. The feedback shapes what we make next.
